As a non-profit, independent school, Huakailani relies on tuition, and the support and generous donations from the community. Donations and gifts of all sizes, in the form of time, support and monetary charity are needed and greatly appreciated.
Financial Assistance Grants
To support an inclusive community, the school provides financial assistance as able.
While each family carries the primary responsibility for financing its daughter’s education, the School works in partnership with individual families to develop a sound financial plan. For some families, a creative payment plan may be the solution. For others, it will be a combination of School and family resources.
Investing in an independent school education requires significant commitment to financial planning and prioritizing. We recognize that the cost of private school tuition has become increasingly challenging. Accordingly, Huakailani has made a commitment to set up funds for financial assistance grants.
Need-Based Financial Aid
Financial need is determined by taking into account many factors including income, net worth, standard living expenses, family size, and the number of children attending tuition-charging schools.
Aid is awarded by the Financial Aid Committee and is granted to students who have a demonstrated financial need and maintain a satisfactory school record of grades and citizenship. Aid is granted for a period of one year, based on current information; changes in a family’s situation may change the amount awarded from year to year.
Currently enrolled students paying full tuition may apply for aid; however, the application must include a statement detailing the changes in circumstances responsible for the financial aid request. The Financial Aid Committee reserves the right to make grants as it sees fit within the existing resources after all applications are reviewed.
Scholarship Fund
It has been proven that regardless of socio-economic background, girls will perform academically better in an all-girls school setting. Our goal is to fund two full scholarships for girls who would have otherwise not had the opportunity to attend an all-girls school.
Capital Improvements
The Huakailani Campus is currently located in a small business complex across the soon-to-be new Target store in Kailua. Our goal is to build a permanent campus within the next decade.
Volunteer
Volunteering your time is often worth more than you think. We rely heavily on volunteers to help with lunch supervision, field trip chaperoning, classroom activity prep and event planning.
